Howard Terpning turns 90 on November 5th, 2017! Howard Terpning & Borsini-Burr are celebrating Howard's 90th birthday by offering you a special new series of limited editions of some of Howard's classic works - the Howard Terpning 90th Birthday Series.
Mountain trappers have written of endless confrontations with Indians. Here surrounded by a group of Crow, this mountain trapper is distracted by the calls of the warriors behind him. As he turns, the goods on his packhorse are inspected. The threatening gestures indicate that he will at minimum lose his weapons and horses. The Crow were inclined to be less hostile than, for instance, the Blackfeet. He will no doubt have to give up some of his "plunder" and possibly his horses but hopefully he will escape with his hide intact.
